Heidi’s Bad Day

Friday afternoon I picked Heidi up from the groomer. It was quite a feat with a 2 month old, I basically threw her in the car and threw a check at the lady and sped of before Barrett started crying. We pulled up in the driveway and I look at her new hair cut and notice she is having trouble opening her eye and it was real runny. I called the groomer and she said to bring her back down there and they would wash her eye out. I asked them to come out to the car and get her since I had a infant asleep in the backseat.

Fast forward, they bring Heidi back to me and said they washed 3 huge hairs out of her eye. We both hoped that fixed to problem.

Saturday morning I check her eye and it isn’t any better. I called the vet and they could see her at 9, so Keith took her down there. She was due for her vaccinations any way, so I told him to go ahead and get those done. Keith came home a short time later with the diagnosis of scratched cornea. He also said the contacted our regular vet about her vaccines (she isn’t supposed to get Lepto) and he said that she had received Lepto with no incident. They gave Heidi the full vaccine set.

Approximately 10 minutes after she got home her face started swelling and hives covered her grey body. Keith took her back to the vet to get steroid treatment for her reaction.

My sweet girl finally returned home on the mend. I am happy to report her eye looks great and her new snack is carrots to treat her weight problem.
