Cancun- Part 5 (The Finale)

Thursday was our final full day in Paradise! So we headed for some yummy breakfast:

038

040

Then headed back to the pool for another great day with our new friends!

044

046

I wanted to share with you the gorgeous beach:

041

042

We made even more friends from across the pond, England to be exact. That afternoon we scheduled a couples massage at the Spa!

047

049

The Hydrotherapy before the massage was incredible. We went through a series of hot and cold pools with jets. They also gave a head massage while we waited for our back massage.

Then it was off to get ready for our dinner with Erika and Ennis!

052

Thanks Erika for the great picture!

053

I was taking their picture so Keith snagged a picture with our camera. Erika is expecting a little girl in the Spring. Yeah!

Here we are eating French food! It was pretty good.

054

Friday morning we got up and packed up and headed for the Cancun Airport. We had an uneventful airplane trip home. We also picked up a few more souvenirs at the airport on our way out.

Cancun- Part 4

Sorry I’ve left you hanging so long!

Wednesday we decided to hang at the pool, which turned into a whole day at the pool. We met some awesome people, Keith played a whole lot of volleyball and got a ton of sun!

Here are some shots of the resort. It was beautiful!

The view from our balcony:

034

We ate dinner that night at the Mexican Restaurant and it was by far my favorite meal of the trip. The fresh Pico de Gallo was incredible!

Our new friends from Brooklyn joined us for dinner and I finally got a couple picture of Keith and I.

035

We had the Mariachi Band play a good Mexican Polka! (sorry for the blurry pics)

Anniversary…Cancun style

Yesterday was our 7th wedding anniversary! We celebrate while we were in Cancun:

015

014

We also got a big fruit basket as well! Speaking of presents, my mom dropped off a brand new set of sheets, which we desperately needed!

We also got some bad news yesterday. Keith is no longer with the company he was working for. So we spent our anniversary digesting our new situation and planning our next steps. It’s definitely difficult and we are trying to make the best of the situation we are in. All the while knowing God will take care of us. I have faith in my God, who is bigger than all circumstance. I also have faith in my husband, who is the smartest and most talented man I know.

9 I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.

10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.

Cancun (Part 2)

We spent Tuesday asleep on the beach under a huge umbrella. We woke up in time to have lunch at Oregano. They made us personal pizzas. I had Mexican Pizza with peppers and Mexican sausage. Keith chose Hawaiian with ham and pineapple.

012

We had several encounters with wildlife while at the resort. I had a bird dive bomb me to attempt to take the pizza out of my mouth. Luckily he didn’t succeed. We also had several Iguanas roaming the property. They were huge!

011

031

Later that afternoon we took a cab into the Hotel Zone in Cancun to Playa de Isla, an open air mall. On the way there our Taxi driver, Gustavo, took our picture at the public beach.

013

The mall had everything we have here. The prices were the same or more, so we didn’t buy much. We did pick up a few souvenirs and I was able to replace the earrings we got in Cozumel on our honeymoon that Eddie ate. We headed back to the resort listening to Michael Buble’ in Gustavo’s Jetta.

The night we ate steak at The Grill. I had a Filet Mignon and Keith had Sirloin, Chicken, and Pork Loin.

017

018

The view from our table:

020

Here is a picture of the inside of the restaurant. I loved the hanging lanterns!

021

That night was the Michael Jackson tribute show. The performer was amazing. He was able to moonwalk and dance exactly like Michael.

Cancun (Part 1)

All packed up and ready to go!

001

003

Rolling really worked! I took more clothes than I needed. Keith even had a pair of shoes he never wore. There was spare room in bag, which came in handy when it was time to bring home our souvenirs.

004

005

We spent Sunday night in Newnan with our friend Brad and Patty. We got to eat dinner at La Parillia with some people we have missed a lot. Thanks for coming or Megan (We did miss Brian and her kiddos) & Trent, Ellen, and baby Bailey!

Monday we boarded an EARLY flight to Cancun! Traveling light paid off! We made it through security, customs, and so on with ease. We stayed 20 minutes from downtown Cancun in an area called the Rivera Maya. It was lunch time when we got there so we ate and toured the grounds and I didn’t take a single picture. Around 3:00 p.m. we finally got into our room! After a much needed nap we got ready for dinner. We ate a delicious meal at Spice. I had the Triple Spicy Duck and Keith had Pad Thai. It was incredible!

007

008

There was entertainment each night at the open air theater. Our first night was a band. These guys were pretty good!

009

There was also a bartender making drinks that were literally on fire! Sorry the picture is fussy!

010

At this point we had decided that we could definitely get used to this vacation thing!

The Land of Miniatures

Carry On; check

Personal Item; check

Miniature versions of the toiletries I can’t live with out; Google has never been so handy!

1.Start with One 1quart ziploc bag

J02-0227901-9400bg

2. Determine what the resort provides. I’m not picky about the shampoo and conditioner I use. I am picky about the styling products I use.  So I won’t waste precious space in my 1 quart bag I’m only bringing things I can’t live with out and if there is extra room in my bag I will fill it with all important sunscreen.

Websites that sell some hard to find miniatures:

http://www.minimus.biz/default.aspx

http://www.drugstore.com/templates/browse/default.asp?catid=9831&trx=29985&trxp1=9831&trxp2=2

3. Determine how much you need. I will only be gone for 5 days. So some things I will be able to get away with only taking sample sizes instead of the larger travel sizes. To the cosmetic counter and my hairstylist! Why buy what you can get for FREE!

4. Trial run

Here are the items I determined I couldn’t live without:

005

Yep! It all fits, and I have a little bit more room!

009

Keith’s must haves:

010

Plenty of extra room!

011

I’m headed back out to get more sunscreen! Oh, and toothpaste! Realized I forgot it during my pre-pack.

Clothes & Customs

Soooo… I’ve been shopping. I know, shocker. I have picked up a few things. Have I told how much I love internet shopping?

Target!

I figure the dress can serve many purposes (cover up, dinner at night, day trip).

I think we really want to try to see the Mayan ruins, it’s a 7 wonder and I’m not sure that I’ll get to see another one.  So I picked these up for the walking and if we do any other sightseeing:

I have also been reading up on US & Mexican Customs! I have been super worried about making some rookie mistake and be detained and miss a flight and crazy stuff like that!

Things I’ve learned so far:

1. Leave a copy of your passport (c0lor), itinerary, driver’s license, and your travel plans with someone back home.

2. Take a color copy of your passport with you separate from your original passport so if your passport is stolen or lost you can get a new one easier with a color copy.

3. Did you know about the fruit sniffing beagles? Well they are good at what they do. So don’t take fruit on an excursion and stick in the same back pack you use as your carry on. The dog can smell where fruit has been!

I’m getting so excited about our trip. I can’t wait to spend some uninterrupted time with Keith for our 7th wedding anniversary!
