Christmas- Take 2 & Pinwheels

One of my favorite things we ate on Christmas morning growing up were Sausage Pinwheels. That sounded really good to me, so I called mom as I was leaving work on Christmas Eve to make sure I had the recipe right. It’s so easy, I was sure I had forgotten something. Nope! After we got home from Christmas at my grandmother’s (and driving through an awful rainstorm), I whipped up the beginnings of a tasty Christmas morning!

No! I am not sponsored by Publix. Store-brand Crescent rolls work best and when you do your shopping on Christmas eve you can’t get too picky because pickins’ are SLIM!

Roll out your dough and layer sausage meat on top. I went a little heavy on the sausage. Oops! So, Mom says you can use 1 (one) package of sausage for 2 crescent roll containers.

Roll it up and refrigerate over night. It is important that they are very cold for cutting the next morning. Slice them about an 1 inch to and 1 1/2 inches and place on a cookie sheet. I cooked mine on 350 and kept an eye on them. Oh yeah, no need to grease your cookie sheet, the sausage will take care of that for you. Bake and enjoy. I prefer mine with a side of cheese scrambled eggs and a nice glass of chocolate milk.

We exchanged presents- I got black boots and an awesome red wool coat! My husband did  a great job picking it out!

Keith got a shirt he had been wanting and a leather iphone case!

We enjoyed lunch with my parents and went to the movies to see “Old Dogs”.

It was a cute movie! We were all pleasantly surprised!

By the way- I finished a great book this week! Seriously, I could not put it down. It doesn’t hurt that author is a University of Alabama graduate!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! We are not finished yet. We will be getting together with friends till the New Year.

Thank you God, for sending Your Son!
